Fresh Yak blood Drinking Festival in Mustang, Annapurna Trek

Nepal is a country where they celebrate more festival then days. It is Hindus and Buddhist combined country they celebrate many festivals together to. There are some festival are date fixed, some are seasonable, some of region wise and depend of weather to. In the lap of Annapurna circuit trek the lower mustang kaligandaki vally area occupied by  famous ethnic group Thakali. After few days trek via ghorepani poon hill and cross world deepest gorge Dana Ghasa you will reach the town called Late. From there the Thakali zone begin. After few hour walk you will reach Thak khola and Tokuche village. Where the local people celebrate a amazing festival 'Fresh Yak Blood Drinking Festival' in the season of October/November.  Many of people will go to high altitude yak farm make the camp for festival. After that they catch the yak and take blood using by syringe and drip down to glass then people will drink per glass with paying some of cash. To drink blood you need to wait and registered before.

The local legendary of yak blood drink
The people are eager to drink yak´s blood as they believe it is a cure for many aliments. According to the fair participants, fresh yak blood cures gastritis, constipation, besides its aphrodisiac qualities.

Locals believe that yak blood, which feeds on herbs found in high hills, to be full of nutritious and medicinal qualities. The blood of one hundred and eighty six yaks is sold at Rs 200 a glass. Around 40-50 glasses of blood are extracted from a yak.
