Today, 21st may full moon,  is a very special day in the Buddhist calendar.  Buddha Jayanti Festival  (Birth day of Lord Buddha) It is Saga Dawa Düchen, the 'Festival of Vaishakha' — one of the four major Buddhist holidays. It occurs on the full moon (the 15th day) of the fourth Tibetan lunar month, which is called Saga Dawa in Tibetan. It celebrates Buddha Shakyamuni’s enlightenment and parinirvana. At the age of thirty-five Buddha attained enlightenment at Bodhgaya. This day also marks the anniversary of his parinirvana at Kushinagara. On this day the effects of positive or negative actions are multiplied ten million times.

On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, In Lumbin Nepal, A mass celebration by Nepalese Government, grand parade and ceremony by Buddhist Lamas and more than 5000 people were attended for the celebration. They visit the birth place of Lord Buddha, Mayadevi Temple (Buddha Morhter Palace now became Temple), the Holy Pond and various countries pavilions.

In Tibet, same day they celebrate as Saga Dawa festival in the lap of Mount Kailash on West North ridge base camp Tarboche or Yamadwar. A large Buddhist devotes and Tibetan communities attended for this festival. It is the largest Buddhist Festival in WestTibet Kailash Mansarovar Area.

On the occasion of Buddha birth day, Every Monasteries they do special celebration by Buddhist Lama and Monks. Local Nepalese Buddhist People will attend there and fire the holy butter lamps around the monasteries area and pray for peace in the world.
