Poon Hill is a 3210m '10531ft' mountain hill summit on the way to Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Myagdi District of Gandaki Zone.  It's name founded by local ethnic group family name Pun. Nearby hill there are big majority of those pun, Gurung and Magar family.  Now becoming very much popular among the tourist and trekkers to see best mountain view of Mt. Annapurna range and Mt. Dhaulagiri and rhododendrons forest with ethical villages landscape. The famous hiking and sunrise/sunset view point 'Poon Hill' located insight the Annapurna Conservation Area on the ridge of Ghorepani village. After an hour step hiking on southern ridge of Ghorepani deurali you will reach top of Pun hill.  Many trekkers they only trek up to poon hill within 3 to 8 days on the loop of Mt. Annapurna and Fishtail village.

Most of trekkers heading early morning to see the sunrise view with the Mountains panorama all  the stone paved steps to Pun Hill top. Quite less trekker climb poon hill to see sunset view to there. You can have best sunset view of Mt. Fishtail 'Machhepuchere'  A holy mountain of Nepal.  If you travel march and April month you can enjoy with beautiful and colors of rhododendrons flowers.
According the ACAP data, Poon Hill is the most visited place among the tourist and trekkers in Nepal every year.

How to go Poon Hill and how long time do you need ?
After 40km drive from pokhara you will reach Nayapul than within 2 days trekking your will reach Ghorepani and next morning you can hike up to Poon Hill. Now if you like to have off road bustling local drive, can drive up to Hile village than a day walk up to Ghorepani via Ulleri and Thikadhunga village. But i suggest you much better trek from Nayapul along the river banks and paddy fields, villages. If you walk same day might get altitude sickness. Because Nayapul to Ghorepani altitute distance is 1800m with the many stone steps. After sunrise view you can back walk to Hille than drive back Pokhara same day possible if you have only 3 days time. If you have more time you may trek to Hot spring 'Jhinu danda' via Tadapani, or Ghandrug village than continue to Dhampush village within 6 to 7 days trekking.

Do we need to pay permit and entry to go poon hill ?
Poon hill located insight the Annapurna Conservation Area. It is the well protected and preserved area of Nepal. To poon hill and trekking around you need to pay  ACAP entry  permit and now required a TIMS Card which you can get from Kathmandu/Pokhara Tourist office or go trekking agency they arrange you all service with a Guide and Porter. To climb up to Pon Hill you need to pay small entry fee along the way to Poon Hill which was only 50NRS per person. The Local Pun village community of Ghorepani they said this fond they used for Poon Hill, cleaning, managed trails, nature conservation and social purpose of Poon Hill areas.
